A Daily Grand prize expires one year after the date of the draw in which it was won. After that it cannot be paid, whatever the reason for the delay, and nobody is obliged to remind you. The same applies to a Free Play you have won but not used.

You choose once, at the time of claim, and the choice is final. An annuity already in payment cannot be converted to cash later. Where more than one play wins the same for-life tier, only the cash payout is available.
BCLC validates the play against the central system and pays in Canadian dollars. For an annuity, the first instalment follows validation.
Publication is a condition of receiving a major prize, not an optional extra. Your full name, your city or town, the game and the prize amount are published, along with a photograph, so that the public can verify prizes are genuinely paid. Anonymity is granted only in exceptional, documented circumstances. If you are unwilling to be identified, you should not play.
It is an annuity, paid in periodic instalments rather than literally daily, and guaranteed for a minimum of 20 years. If the winner dies inside that period, the remaining guaranteed payments go to the named beneficiary or the estate. After the guarantee period, payments stop on death.
The winnings themselves are not taxed in Canada. Income earned on them afterwards is — interest, dividends, rent and capital gains all count. A large win is a reason to get independent tax advice before you spend or invest anything.
There is never a fee, tax, deposit or "release payment" to collect a lottery prize. Nobody official will contact you about a prize on a game you did not play, or ask for a card number, a password or a gift card. If someone does, it is a scam — stop, and report it.
Prize decisions are made by the operator. If you disagree with one, there is a defined route — including escalation to the independent regulator.
